CSI Ledford: Investigator # 62666

  • Victim Name: Kandice Ledford , Georgia
  • theft Location: St. Peter's Church. Rome, Georgia
  • Description of item(s) taken: Nikon 24mm lens, Nikon 28-70mm lens, Sigma 70-300mm lens, Nikon SB-80 flash, Navy Bag ( Bessler) containing misc contents such as filters, flash cards, data, etc..

Case Notes: Breakthrough with the camera bag theft, traumatized victim reports that business cards were left in the missing bag, cards including website address. After investigating one such http://www.ledfordphotography.com/ I discovered that website contains tracking information provided by statcounter.com, recording all internet traffic onto website.

note: Victim also report that no cards were handed out during the course of the day and that no company information was verbally given to any person(s) during the course of the day.

After looking though the records of this internet tracker, I have found that on the night of Sept. 18, 2005 at 9:24pm a hit was made with no referring link* from Rome, GA, therefore leaving a PC Fingerprint of sorts. This Fingerprint gave us the suspects IP Address, which are unique to every PC. Also found was the suspects service provider, Comcast Communications.

note: * no referring link meanings that suspect would have had to phyically type web address into interest engine in order to access this information.

note: Victim verifies that prior to this web hit, no web traffic had ever before came from Rome, Ga with no referring link.

Information is being given to the detective in charge of this case, which should lead us to the suspects exact location and idenity. This information should merit a warrant.

Case Pending
